Confirmed asymptomatic carrier of SARS-CoV-2

Here we reported a case of asymptomatic carrier of SARS-CoV-2 infection. A 50-year old woman, lived with her husband in Anqing(Anhui, China) with no significant past medical history, travel history to Wuhan or adjacent area, or exposure to wild animals. She took throat swab test for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid due to her husband’s close contact with patients who had SARS-CoV-2 infection. Her results were confirmed positive on February 6, 2020. But she did not report elevation of temperature measurement, nor respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms and her chest CT scan showed no significant abnormalities. She was hospitalized on February 6 and treated with antiviral agents. During her hospitalization, apart from a mild elevation of liver enzymes after 10-day treatment of lopinavir/ritonavir, she was asymptomatic, with her blood cell count, live and renal function largely normal. Her subcutaneous oxygen saturation stayed above 97%. Chest CT scan was repeated on February 11 and 20, and both were negative for signs of viral pneumonia. Notably, a second set of throat swabs and anal swabs were sent to test for SARS-CoV-2 on February 19, and the results were still confirmed positive. This is a confirmed case of asymptomatic carrier of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Her persistent positive findings in both throat and anal swabs suggested the possibility of healthy carrier of the virus, which adds to the difficulty in preventing transmission of the disease.

We report on the microstructure, mechanical properties, magnetocaloric effect and thermal transfer performance of LaFe11.6Si1.4Hy/Sn composites prepared by hot pressing. The liquid Sn forms a homogenous continuous matrix but does not react with LaFe11.6Si1.4Hy grains during compacting. By controlling pressing temperature, a set of composites combined high entropy change values of 10–13 J/kg K at 2 T with high thermal conductivity of about 7 W/mK has been obtained in a magnetostructural transition range of 1–17 °C.

The elastocaloric effect has been investigated by directly measuring temperature change in Ni45Mn44Sn11 metamagnetic shape memory alloys. The stress plateau for magnetostructural transition can be drastically re- duced due to the mechanical training effect. A large temperature change of 4 K was found during compressing the sample with a small transformation strain of 1.3% at 291.5 K. Our results indicate that Ni–Mn–Sn alloys can be a promising candidate for solid-state refrigerants in mechanical cooling application by low deformation level.

Critical behavior of spatial evolutionary game with altruistic to spiteful preferences on two-dimensional lattices

Self-questioning mechanism which is similar to single spin-flip of Ising model in statistical physics is introduced into spatial evolutionary game model. We propose a game model with altruistic to spiteful preferences via weighted sums of own and opponent’s payoffs. This game model can be transformed into Ising model with an external field. Both interaction between spins and the external field are determined by the elements of payoff matrix and the preference parameter. In the case of perfect rationality at zero social temperature , this game model has three different phases which are entirely cooperative phase, entirely non-cooperative phase and mixed phase. In the investigations of the game model with Monte Carlo simulation, two paths of payoff and preference parameters are taken. In one path, the system undergos a discontinuous transition from cooperative phase to non-cooperative phase with the change of preference parameter. In another path, two continuous transitions appear one after another when system changes from cooperative phase to non-cooperative phase with the prefenrence parameter. The critical exponents and of two continuous phase transitions are estimated by the finite-size scaling analysis. Both continuous phase transitions have the same critical exponents and they belong to the same universality class as the two-dimensional Ising model.
