  • Review of Predatory Journal Studies from the perspective of scientific integrity

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Library Science submitted time 2023-04-25

Abstract:   Purpose/Significance This paper summarizes the representative research achievements on predatory journals at home and abroad, and provides a reference for the related research. Method/Process The literature reading method and network survey method were used to investigate predatory journals in terms of basic theory, characteristic indicators, country distribution and operation mode. Result/Conclusion Predatory journals have derived a series of related concepts with profound theoretical roots. Predatory journals present new characteristics with the times, thus requiring smarter methods to identify and track such journals. Developing countries with underdeveloped scientific research are the main originators and victims of predatory journals. Predatory journals imitate the operation mode of regular journals in the process of establishment, profitability and dissemination, which makes it difficult to manage predatory journals. Future research can focus on five aspects: defining the concept of predatory journals, tracking the characteristics of predatory behavior, assisting accurate identification by artificial intelligence, improving the mechanism of peer review, and multinational communication and collaborative governance.

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Library Science submitted time 2023-03-10

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] This paper discusses the inclusion of special groups in libraries from the perspective of legalization, so as to provide reference for establishing and improving the inclusion system of special groups in libraries. [Method/Process] Based on the qualitative text research method, an analysis framework was constructed with the special group type and inclusive connotation dimension as the axis, and 10 library legal texts from China, Russia, France, South Korea, the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom were analyzed as the research objects. [Results/Conclusion] The analysis found that there are many problems in China's libraries, such as great differences in the importance of rule of law among special groups, relatively sparse provisions on inclusive connotation, and the pattern of rule of law construction for inclusion of special groups to be improved. Suggestions were put forward, such as paying equal attention to the inclusive rights of various special groups, strengthening the coordinated coverage of the inclusive dimension of special groups, and improving the supporting system of inclusive services for special groups.
