    Abstract:

Background The poor disease control of Chinese adolescents with Type 1 diabetes has brought a heavy burden to families and society. Diabetes education in China is mainly aimed at patients with Type 2 diabetes, and there is a lack of self-management support programs for adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. Objective To develop a resilience-oriented structured treatment and education course, and to verify its applicability and feasibility among Chinese adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. Methods Guided by the diabetes resilience model, the needs of adolescent with Type 1 diabetes were analyzed through literature analysis and interviews. On the basis of need analysis and educational theory, a draft curriculum was developed. Then the expert meeting was organized to revise and improve the curriculum. Results The final curriculum covers 43 teaching objectives in three fields of cognitive, and behavior and emotion. The curriculum adopts group style, a total of 6 lessons, and is jointly implemented by doctors and nurses. A total of 8 adolescents were recruited in the feasibility analysis, of which 6 adolescents completed all courses. Patients said that the course content was close to life and the class atmosphere was relaxed. After participating in the course, the self-management ability was enhanced, the acceptance of diabetes was improved, and the emotion regulation ability was improved. Conclusion Resilience-oriented structured therapy and education curriculum has comprehensive content, standardized implementation process, high feasibility, and is worthy of further clinical verification.
