In the new stage of open science, preprints have become a new type of academic communication and are playing a leading role in international and domestic scientific research cooperation. International preprint platforms, exemplified by arXiv, are developing rapidly, and ChinaXiv (www.chinaxiv.org), a platform for the pre-publication of scientific and technical papers of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has created an advanced academic communication platform in China. In order to improve researchers' understanding of preprints, enhance the academic impact of ChinaXiv, and promote the prosperity of scientific communication, the preprint construction team of the National Science Library，Chinese Academy of Sciences organised and planned a series of activities of "Preprints (ChinaXiv) into Academic Communities", which is aimed at universities and research institutes nationwide to carry out promotional activities. The team organised and planned the "ChinaXiv in the Academic Community" series of activities, targeting universities and research institutes nationwide. On April 17, 2024, Professor Chou Jingli, head of the preprint platform construction project of the Documentation and Intelligence Centre of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to the School of Paleontology (Liaoning Museum of Paleontology) of Shenyang Normal University to give a lecture on "Preprints and New Academic Communication". Shenyang Normal University School of Paleontology (Liaoning Museum of Paleontology) Party General Secretary Yang Jianjie, Deputy Director Li Li, Zhang Honggang and all the teachers and librarians of the College to participate in the report. The meeting was hosted by Li Yongnian, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of Paleontology (Liaoning Museum of Paleontology), Shenyang Normal University. Professor Chou Jingli report around the theme of "preprints and preprint platform", introduced in detail the important reasons for the birth of preprints, positioning and play an important role in the academic field, and at the same time introduced the current development of China and the world's current preprint platform status and trends; elaborated on the preprint platform, a new mode of academic communication mode of operation and the relationship between the platform and journal publishing. At the same time, he introduced the current development situation and trend of preprint platform in China and the world; described the operation mode of preprint platform, a new mode of academic communication, and the relationship between the platform and the publication of journals; and introduced the positive role of preprint in building a new type of academic communication ecosystem. Professor Chor pointed out that preprint platform is an indispensable part of open access and open science, which, together with journal publishing, database platform, academic conference, new media, etc., constitutes the ecosystem of academic communication and is a new type of academic communication mode, which provides authors with the fastest channel to publish research results, and is the first choice for authors to obtain the latest information, and it is becoming the new favourite of the international academic community. The event aroused a lively discussion among the participants. The "ChinaXiv" event will continue to be held, and more cooperation will be solicited and invited to promote the construction of the preprint platform in the academic community.
